2009-2010 PROJECT
"Art in a Box"

Children will collaborate with a partner to create art inside of cardboard boxes.

There are no rights or wrongs, it can be influenced by many different artists and cultures from around the world. It can be an environmental statement or a lesson in the elements and principles of art (repeat pattern, texture, line, color, form, etc.,) using recycled materials. The box can be a place where students’ thoughts and writings about the environment are displayed. It can hold the process of a science project. We will provide a small number of ideas to choose from which will be presented at our January workshop, or you may use your own, as long as the product can be part of the final “Art in a Box” installation. Each piece will be assembled in an installation created by the architecture students of Illinois Institute of Technology and displayed at the Merchandise Mart from April 20 through May 19, 2010.
