Teaching Art

Incredible @rt Department http://www.princetonol.com/groups/iad/
The Incredible @rt Department is an outstanding resource for art educators or anyone teaching art.  This covers everything from lesson plan ideas to classroom management in the art room.  Highly recommended.

Many art museums post lesson plans and art education resources on their sites.  Here are a few great places to get started.

MCA offers great online resources and outstanding "educator salons."  The salons are free events open to all educators.  CPDUs are offered for these events.

The Art Institute of Chicago's new modern wing includes a beautiful new art education department.  Feel free to take advantage of the Crown Family Education Resource Center and online resources.  http://www.artic.edu/aic/education/  Art educators can also apply for a free educator's card which grants free admission to the museum.   The My Collections section of the web site can be used to select images of artwork from the website for easy viewing at any time.  Images on the site are also able to be downloaded for use in the classroom.  http://www.artic.edu/aic/collections/artists

The Tate Museums in London offer a great online experience for adults, kids, and educators.  Visit Tate Kids Home with your students.  http://kids.tate.org.uk/  Tate also offers incredible virtual postings of their exhibitions, such as this Francis Bacon show.  http://www.tate.org.uk/britain/exhibitions/francisbacon/default.shtm
